BOW Approves Request for CCMG Quotes

The Frankfort Board of Works approved the request for paving quotes for the Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) on Monday night,

“It’s going to be a total paving amount of a little over $600,000 which is a 50-50 match between the city and the state,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets. “Hopefully we can get our bids in and get the paving done yet this year.”

If that happens, it will be the second time this year that the city has paved roads. Bids will be opened at the July 11 meeting.

The Board of Works also approved a bid of $13,500 from Moore Seal Coating and Line Striping, LLC, of Frankfort to paint the parking lines downtown.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to for some time, but we just couldn’t find the right time to do it. We only do it during the winter,” said Sheets. “This will help beautify the downtown.”

Taylor Street between Walnut and Washington is being changed to a two-way street from a one-way street.

“It’s something like we needed to do,” said Sheets. “We had a request at do this at least six months ago. We wanted to wait until the 28 project was done to see if that would make any difference. But, we’re not seeing any changes.”

The board is also looking at doing something similar with Doyel Street, but no decision was reached.

The board also approved the City Auction to be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Street Department.
