Red Barn Kicks Off 54th Season

Summer stock theatre once again returns to Frankfort as On-Stage Foundation, Inc. and Bailey Trucking announce the first show of the 54th season of the Red Barn Summer Theatre.  Deceiving Granny, written and directed by Red Barn Artistic Director Michael Taylor and sponsored by The Farmers Bank.  A high-energy farce that features all the trademarks of that genre–slamming doors, pratfalls, twisted plots, double-takes, mistaken identities and comic misunderstandings.

The production features Texas native Chloe Byars as “Margaret,” Frankfort’s Anthony Bacon as “Sam,” Chicago-based actor Katherine Abel as “Kelsey,” and Red Barn veteran Luke McLaughlin as her husband “Rob.” Featured actors include Madison Myers, Dave Kenworthy, Mike Bruton, Hailey Campbell, Janeen Burrows, Jan Jameson and Aaron Moon.

Deceiving Granny centers on Sam and Margaret Howard who have unexpectedly learned they will inherit 3.5 million dollars from a great-grandmother Sam has never met. But first “Granny” wants to meet the young couple to find out if they are “worthy” of this generous gift.

The opening night experience will be enhanced thanks to this year’s Opening Night sponsors Goodwin Funeral Home and Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center.  Talented Noblesville musician Joe Doyel will return to entertain on the lawn starting at 6:15 and wine from Blackhawk Winery, as well as beer, will be offered from The Cellar.  All Opening Night guests will exit with a token of the Barn’s appreciation courtesy of Goodwins and Archer-Weston.

Deceiving Granny will play for two weeks, June 8th through the 19th, Wednesday through

Sunday. All evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday matinees begin at 2:00 p.m. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.redbarntheatre.net, or by phone at 765-659-1657. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Box Office, Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.

The Red Barn Summer Theatre was founded in 1968 by Martin and Carol Ann Henderson and was moved to its present location on the farm of Joe and Erma Maish in 1973.
