A swarm of bees descended on the Thorntown Public Library meeting rooms over the weekend for the 4th Annual Adult Spelling Bee that occurred last Saturday, featuring outstanding costumes and a new victorious team that took home the entire honey pot.
Eight teams participated during the spelling bee, including the two-time defending champions Alphabet Soup, who were taken out in the fifth round of the bee. The patriotic Chester Bee Arthur team prevailed this year, placing themselves at the top of the hive and receiving the first-place medals for their efforts.
Community members were treated to friendly competition and attempted bribes from the participants as they flexed their spelling knowledge and competed while maintaining the fun atmosphere.
The library is already planning for the 5th Annual Adult Spelling Bee where teams of new and old will battle it out to dethrone the queen bees of Chester Bee Arthur.
