Report Of Suspicious Man Leads To Shot Fired, Arrest In Sheridan Tuesday Evening

A report of a suspicious person in Sheridan led to a shot being fired and the forcible apprehension of a male suspect Tuesday evening.

On March 11, just before 6 p.m., the Sheridan Police Department reportedly responded to a call at 417 S. Main St. in Sheridan of a suspicious male subject who was allegedly yelling at a group of children in the area.

Authorities report that officers met the male suspect shortly after arriving at the corner of Georgia Street and 3rd Street, and when the officer was arriving, he reportedly heard a shot fired.

Officers reported that they witnessed a male subject exit the residence with a handgun seconds after the shot was heard, and officers talked with the man long enough to convince him to put down the gun.

Once the man was far enough away from the gun, he was reportedly forcibly taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. The incident concluded without the suspect or officers experiencing injuries.
