Arrest Made In Cochise Trail Double Homicide In Lafayette

The Lafayette Police Department has announced that a joint effort between the department and the Tippecanoe County Major Crimes Unit has resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for a woman in connection with a double homicide.

The department stated that an arrest warrant has been issued for Seyene Vargas, 50, in connection with the March 1 double homicide on Cochise Trail.

The department reported that Vargas was well known to both victims and had a prior domestic relationship with Laportia Shenett, and she was taken into custody on March 16 by the U.S. Marshals in Seattle, Washington.

Vargas was charged with the murder of Shenett, 34, and Kadeisha Ross, 28. Vargas has also been charged with obstruction of justice and false informing.

The investigation remains as an active investigation, and anyone with additional information on the case is encouraged to contact the Lafayette Police Department.
