The semi-final round of Sectional football kicks off tonight.
Here is a look at the local games.
Sheridan (6-2) at Clinton Prairie (3-5) 7:00 – Listen on WILO
Clinton Prairie quarterbacks Gaige Kuzmicz and Brady Allen have kept opposing defenses on their toes. Kuzmicz has thrown seven touchdowns while Allen has accounted for five.
Sheridan’s offensive approach has been more one-dimensional, but it’s been tough to stop. The Blackhawks have rushed for over 2200 yards this season, with Alex Cravens and Hayden Alexander accounting for 700 yards each.
Frankfort (0-9) at Lebanon (8-2) 7:00
The Hot Dogs have struggled to find success on both sides of the football this season. They do have five runners over 100 yards on the season, including Jaydon Davis, who is averaging 8.1 yards per carry.
The Tigers suffered a loss in their first game to Pendleton Heights and in their last game to Harrison. Between those losses, they dominated opponents, scoring 36.1 points per game. Senior running back Josh Parks has already eclipsed 1000 yards rushing and has added 12 touchdowns.
Taylor (6-3) at Carroll (6-3) – 7:00
The Titans are trying to win back-to-back Sectionals under coach Rob Patchett. The Titans are led by senior quarterback Javionne Harris, who has thrown for 1100 yards and 13 touchdowns and run for 1600 yards and 26 touchdowns. The Titans defeated North White 85-6 last week.
Carroll won the regular-season matchup against the Titans 48-21, but is still looking for the offense to hit its stride. The Cougars fell to Lebanon 20-7 in the final week of the regular season, but beat Winamac in the first round of sectionals 27-14. The running game has been strong all season with Emery Deaton, Aiden Wiles and dual-threat quarterback Cale Peters.
Southmont (9-1) at Western Boone (6-4) 7:00
Southmont finished second in the new Monon Athletic Conference, only falling to undefeated Cascade. The Mounties won the regular-season matchup against Western Boone 26-23.
After three straight State Championships, the Stars haven’t been able to make it out of Sectionals. Justin Pelley’s squad has shown flashes of its potential this season. Senior running back Jacob Smith has run for 1600 yards and 24 touchdowns on the season.
Tune in to Inside the Huddle tomorrow at nine a.m. on WILO for a recap of all of the local games.
