A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for much of central Indiana through 10:00 a.m. EST today, according to the National Weather Service.
Visibility may drop to one-quarter mile or less at times as dense fog develops, creating hazardous travel conditions. The advisory is in place from 6:15am through 10:00am this morning.
Areas affected include portions of central, east central, north central, and west central Indiana, specifically: Carroll, Warren, Tippecanoe, Clinton, Howard, Fountain, Montgomery, Boone, Tipton, Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Vermillion, Parke, Putnam, Hendricks, Marion, Hancock, and Henry counties.
Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling. Officials recommend slowing down, using headlights, and leaving plenty of distance between vehicles. Sudden drops in visibility are possible, especially in low-lying areas and near waterways.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve as temperatures rise later this morning. Drivers should stay alert and allow extra time for the morning commute.
