Hunter Nickels

John Hunter Nickels, 55, of Avon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026. He was born on October 27, 1970, in Lebanon; a son of John M. Nickels and Susie Rosen.

He graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1989 and proudly served in the United States Navy and later devoted 25 years to working for CSX as an electrician. He was also a proud member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers).

More than anything Hunter was a family man. He loved deeply, laughed easily, and cared for everyone around him. His favorite moments were spent on the beach, surrounded by his loved ones, fishing, and driving fast cars. He loved sports and a little friendly competition; whether it was playing, coaching, or spectating.

Hunter is survived by his parents, John (Alice) Nickels and Susie Rosen; children, Paige Nickels, Kailey Nickels, and Chase (Beth) Nickels; grandchildren, Johnathan Jake Nickels and Cohen Joseph Nickels; his sister, Heather (Randy) Wardwell; and his niece Olivia Clamme.

Though his family and friends are devastated and heartbroken; they find comfort in the love, strength, and memories he leaves behind. Hunter will be deeply missed and Forever loved.

Hunter’s fondest memories were spent on the beach with his family and friends. His loved ones will honor him by returning him to the place he loves most.

No services will be held. Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory in Jamestown, Indiana, has been entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
