Ada Darlene Shinn, 67, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026. She was born March 30, 1959, in Lebanon, Indiana, and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1977. While in high school, Darlene participated in band and was student manager for the girls basketball teams
Darlene enjoyed fishing, traveling, crafts, and taking mission trips to Jamaica. She volunteered with a Sheridan food pantry for several years, assisted with tutoring and IT support at Cornerstone Christian Academy for 12 years, and was Administrative Secretary and Logistics Leader with Camp Amigos for over 30 years.
Darlene was a caregiver and helper to many, including family, friends, school children, and senior citizens. She was a jack of all trades and enjoyed fixing or engineering many home repair projects.
Darlene worked for Kauffman Engineering in Lebanon for 15 years, performing various tasks including working as a cost estimator and draftsman. She later worked with TH Lenox for seven years, assisting with clerical and property management. She also delivered the Indianapolis Star for over 20 years.
Darlene made many friends at Sanders Glen Wellbrooke of Westfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leota Acton Shinn and her sister, Sharon Huddleston.
Ada leaves a legacy of loved ones who will dearly miss her, including special friends, Shayne and Beverly Clark, Kathleen Stevens, Dan and Darlene Klingensmith, Rachelle Goddard, Derek and Rebekah Spriggs, and Jan Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Darlene’s ashes will be buried at Robison Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her cremation.
