Jill Elaine (Showers) McCaw, 70, of Mexico, Missouri, passed away at King’s Daughters Home in the early morning of August 17, 2026. Jill was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Jill was born on July 3, 1956 in Lebanon, Indiana, the daughter of William and Amelita (Stevens) Showers. She immediately became a member of a vibrant family with four older brothers, Gary, Jon, Charles (Skip), and Tim, and graduated high school in 1974 in Barrington, Illinois. Jill spent her young adult life as a loving single mother of Joshua Swanson, while also completing her bachelor’s degree in business (1987) and developing a successful career as a businesswoman in the steel industry. Her 25 year career with National Steel took Jill and Josh from the Chicago area to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Mishawaka, Indiana; and finally, to St. Louis, Missouri. Jill moved to Martinsburg, Missouri in 1995 when she married William “Bill” S. McCaw, with whom she spent the rest of her life.
She was involved with a variety of interests and activities, including attending Mexico United Methodist Church, raising cattle, and also had a second career as a Medical Lab Technician at Audrain Medical Center. Jill valued family above all else, and enjoyed preparing family gatherings for holidays, where her specialty was deviled eggs.
Jill is survived by her husband William “Bill” S. McCaw of Mexico; one son Joshua G. (Roberta) Swanson of Onalaska, Wisconsin; two step-daughters, Christina McCaw (William Davis) of Mexico, Missouri and Nichole Mesko (Brice) of Mexico, Missouri; three brothers, Gary Showers (Ann) of Oldsmar, Florida, Jonathan Showers (Elaine) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Charles “Skip” Showers (Laura) of Jefferson City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Alexander and Sabina Swanson, Hunter (Lane) Oakes, Halie Mesko, Justin, Mary and Katie McCaw.
Jill was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Timothy Showers.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a short service at 7:00 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Oak Hill Cemetery, 935 East Washington Street in Lebanon, Indiana. Myers Mortuary in Lebanon has been entrusted with her burial arrangements.
