Mrs. Suellen Marie Denny, 75, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026. She was born on December 21, 1950, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Raymond E. and Barbara J. (Crow) Whitinger.
On September 19, 1980, she was united in marriage to Gene Denny in Colfax; he survives.
Suellen was a 1969 graduate of Thorntown High School. She worked at Aero Drapery for over 20 years. She then changed careers when she went to work at Witham Memorial Hospital, first as a receptionist in the Physical Therapy department and then in scheduling for the Cancer Institute.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Suellen loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and crafting projects, especially for her family. She loved watching her birds and identifying new ones at her feeders. Suellen was a longtime member of Pleasant View Church, west of Lebanon. She enjoyed spending time volunteering as a teacher for the church’s AWANA program. She will be remembered for her big heart and her will to serve.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Denny; children, Amanda (Brian) Wiley of Lebanon and Patrick (Kristi) Denny of Thorntown; seven grandchildren, Mitchell (Gwyn) Medley, Hannah (Blake) Medley, Grace (Aly) Wiley, Emma Wiley, Ethan Medley, Cash Denny, and Sterling Denny; and two brothers, William F. (Diana) Whitinger of Thorntown and Richard R. (Sara) Whitinger of Warsaw.
In addition to her parents, Suellen was preceded in death by a brother, Robert M. Whitinger.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
