The Board of Works acted on two different things Monday night that will enhance the outdoor pleasure of Frankfort residents.
First of all, the BOW approved the pricing and logo for Sapphire Bay, the new aquatic center being built in TPA Park.
“We’ve had a lot of questions from the citizens wanting to know about pricing,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets. “We approved that tonight. That’s a good step and now they can plan ahead for the summer.”
Daily Entry Fee: $7.00 (2 years old and under are free) Morning Water Walking Daily Fee (Monday to Friday only): $3.00 Individual Season Pass: $75.00 Family Season Pass (for a family of up to 5 household members) $250.00 *$25 per additional household member Half-Day/4 hours Cabana Rental: $50.00 Full-Day Cabana Rental: $75.00 Season passes will be available for purchase starting May 1, 2023, at the Frankfort Parks Department office. The office will be open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Once the pool is open, season passes will be available at the entrance.
The operating hours from Memorial Day weekend to August 5, 2023, will be: Monday to Friday from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm Saturday: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Sunday: 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Water Walking will be available from 10:15 am to 11:15 am during the week (Monday to Friday). The operating hours from August 6, 2023, to August 31, 2023, will be: WEEKENDS ONLY Saturday: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Sunday: 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Also unveiled was the new logo for the aquatic center, which is expected to be open over the Memorial Day weekend.
“I think its going to look really nice,” said Sheets. “I love the way we incorporated the gem, the sapphire waves and Sapphire Bay is on there with the waves. I think it’s going to look super nice.”
Another item revealed during the meeting was the fact that NHK has donated $50,000 for naming rights.
“It’s pretty much to put into words the appreciation we have for NHK, helping us with this amenity and making it feasible for everyone,” said Community Development Director Kimberly Black.
The other big item came with the new tennis/pickleball courts at TPA. The BOW approved both the new fencing and line striping for the courts.
“I think things are really looking great out at TPA Park by the pickleball courts and tennis courts,” said Sheets. “The lighting’s up. They’ll have the fencing and line striping that we’re doing to have to have. We’re moving right along on it.”
Requests for proposals on the courts are due back to the city by the start of the new Board of Works meeting on Monday, April 10, at 5 p.m.
Sheets expects the courts to be ready by spring.
One thing that came up recently was a broken gas line at the new pool. The BOW approved a fix of $12,898.08 on the line that will run from the pool to the Parks Department.
“It’s going to costly to fix it, but it’s something we have to do,” said Sheets. “It’s old pipes under there. They need to be replaced. So, we went with a company that’s very experienced with that and at a cost that we will be able to afford.”
