The Frankfort Police Department arrested a suspect in a domestic battery case at Springbrook Apartments on Tuesday evening.
On Oct. 17 around 5 p.m., Frankfort officers repotedly received a complaint regarding an alleged female domestic battery victim. The officers launched an investigation into the incident, collecting statements and photographs of the injuries reported by the victim, police say.
The officers maintained contact with Raymon Bennett, 28, who was identified as the main suspect in the case by the investigation team. According to police, Bennett was uncooperative with the investigation, which led the officers to obtain a search warrant for the suspect. Just before 8 p.m., the officers reportedly established probable cause for the warrant, and a search warrant was issued by the Clinton County Circuit Court.
According to the department, the officers enacted the warrant in the 700 block of Stoneridge Dr. in Frankfort, also known as the Springbrook Apartments. Officers stated that utilizing the warrant, the suspect was eventually removed from the apartment for the team to continue the investigation.
“FPD negotiators were on scene and were able to safely negotiate the suspect out of the residence without incident,” the report reads. “During a search of the residence, evidence was collected.”
Bennett was arrested on charges of domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, Level 5 felony, domestic battery in the presence of a minor, Level 6 felony, and invasion of price, misdemeanor.
The case will be forwarded to the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office for further review of the case and the issuance of formal criminal charges.
