The Delphi Police Department issued a statement regarding accusations that local law enforcement was “targeting females,” stating that the accusation was not substantiated.
“While this wasn’t a formal complaint, we still wanted to address the matter and present some facts,” the department released.
The department stated that citations and warnings are entered into INcite, which is the Indiana Court Information Technology Extranet, and the system tracks several statistics, including gender. The department provided the public with a report dated from Jan. 1, 2024 through Oct. 1, 2024 to address the accusation. According to the report, 57.6% of department contacts for traffic violations were men while 42.4% were women.

“Our officers don’t stop genders, they stop vehicles,” the department released. “These numbers could change, however, for now in Delphi, men are worse drivers.”
