The Boone County Communications E-911 Department released a warning for community members across the region to avoid outdoor burning this afternoon due to dry weather and increased winds.
While Carroll County has instated a burn ban, Clinton and Boone have abstained from implementing a ban, but community members have still been requested to avoid burning in the entire region this afternoon, Oct. 22.
The department stated that a combination of drying surface vegetation combined with wind gusts expected to reach between 20 and 30 miles-per-hour amidst relative humidity values below 30-percent leads to an elevated risk of grass and brush first throughout the afternoon today across much of central Indiana.
“Take care to avoid accidentally starting fires, including by being careful with equipment that may spark and by not operating vehicles on or around dry vegetation,” the department released.
