She was a graduate of Zionsville High School.
In 1952, Shirley married Carl J. Rose, but they later divorced. She then married William R. DeVol and divorced. Both Carl and William preceded her in death.
Shirley was employed as a secretary with Peerless Pump and later at Mayflower.
She attended Lebanon Rock Church and was a member of Hasty Basters Home EC Club. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed listening to Elvis, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed collecting items that were meaningful to her.
Survivors include her children, Terry Rose of Lebanon, Christina Rose of Blano, Texas, Dr. Dennis (June) Rose of Llano, Texas, and Denise Hammond of Pendleton, Indiana; grandchildren, Tara Rose, Justin Hammond, Jamie Liggett, Nicholas (Erika) Fariss, Danielle Walker, Taylor Rose, and Nelson Rose; great grandchildren, Aiden Hammond, Addisyn Hill, Layla Rose, Jensen Fariss, and Stiles Fariss; brother, Wayne King; sister, Wilma Hancock of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters, Janet Sue Brush and Martha Garoutte; brothers, Edward L. King and Herbert King; and son-in-law, Cavin Hammond.
Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will follow services at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
