Annies “Jane” (Speas) Meeks, 104, of Frankfort, passed away September 27, 2026 at Wesley Manor Retirement Community. She was born on June 3, 1922 in Whiteland, Indiana to Robert Arie and Vinnie Mae (Mathanie) Speas and named after both of her grandmothers. She married Willard C. Meeks on June 30, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2007. They shared a joyous life together for 60 years.
Jane grew up on a farm and some of her fondest memories were family gatherings, going to school, eating lots of good meals, and playing games like kickball, croquet, cards, hide-n-seek, and skating. She was a 1940 graduate of Beech Grove High School and served her country working for Knoblett Sparks making bullet casings for the war. She and Willard owned a florist shop in Frankfort where Jane worked alongside her husband. While raising her family, Jane sold Avon during the day and worked as a hostess and waitress at Frankfort Country Club (where she became fondly known as “Janie”) for 30 years until her retirement in 1984. She was of southern Baptist faith and was a life member of Eastern Star. Jane enjoyed cooking and said fried chicken was her signature dish. She enjoyed big band music and good old Rock and Roll, still tapping her toes and dancing in her dreams. Above all, she loved being a wife and mother.
Surviving are her children: Brenda Reynolds and Daniel (Stephanie) Meeks both of Frankfort, grandchildren: Jason (Jessica) Reynolds of Zionsville and Trevor Meeks of Forest, step-grandchildren: Melanie (Jacob) Harden and Neil (Taylor) Jones, great-grandchildren: Rex and Sawyer, step-great-grandchildren: Emerie, Kaycie, and Charlee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
A private family graveside service will take place at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
