The National Weather Service has issued the following informational statement concerning our first chance of high heat indexes this season.
NWS
Early season heat is upon us, with forecasted high temperatures
for today and Thursday near 90 degrees. Dew points into the 70s
will bring heat indexes to between 95 to 104 degree range during
peak heating both days.
Use the following safety tips for facing the heat safely:
* Stay hydrated, avoiding alcohol and drinks with heavy
caffeine or sugar.
* Dress in loose fitting clothing, light in color.
* Take advantage of shade and air conditioning when possible.
* Take frequent breaks when working outdoors.
* Beware that automobiles heat up very quickly, thus pets and
children should not be left in parked vehicles for any length
of time.
* Vulnerable populations are particularly at risk: elderly,
infants, and people with chronic medical conditions.

Mulberry Police Department Secures Grant to Equip Patrol Fleet with Life-Saving AEDs
Mulberry, Indiana – May 27, 2026 – The Mulberry Police Department is proud to
announce it has been awarded a generous grant in the amount of $15,185.87 from the
Clinton County Community Foundation. This critical funding was used to purchase and
deploy one new Motorola portable radio and three new Automated External
Defibrillators (AEDs) in the department’s patrol vehicles and police headquarters.
Because law enforcement officers are frequently the first to arrive at the scene of a
medical emergency, rapid access to an AED is crucial for patient survival. Sudden
cardiac arrest requires immediate medical intervention, and the use of an AED within
the first few minutes significantly increases the likelihood of a positive outcome before
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrive.
“The Clinton County Community Foundation is pleased to present this grant award to
help the Mulberry Police Department create a safer environment for our residents,” said
Emerald Blankenship, Senior Vice President of the Community Foundation. This grant
comes from our Clinton County Unrestricted Grant Pool, made up of gifts from
generous donors who trust us to address the evolving needs of our community.”
“The Mulberry Police Department is deeply grateful to the Clinton County Community
Foundation for their ongoing commitment to public safety,” said Town Marshal Jason
Albaugh. “Our officers are often the first on the scene, and having these life-saving tools
readily available in our patrol vehicles allows us to step in immediately during a cardiac
emergency. It is one more vital way we can protect and serve our community.”
