Cynthia A. Merrill

Mrs. Cynthia A. Merrill, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, at her farm in Thorntown, Indiana, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born January 14, 1949, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Fay and Ruby (Ragsdale) Youkey.

On October 8, 1967, she married Ronald L. Merrill in Thorntown, Indiana; he survives.

Cynthia graduated from Thorntown High School in 1967 and attained her cosmetology license. She owned and operated Cynthia’s Beauty Salon in Thorntown with her best friends.

She was a devoted lifetime member, Elder, and worship leader of Thorntown Christian Church, where she loved and was loved by many. Cynthia showed her love for the Lord by playing the pipe organ and piano for the church for 60 years. In the last few months, when she couldn’t play any longer, she prayed and sang sweetly from the pews.

Cynthia was also an active farm wife, supporting her husband and family in the fields and barns. She had a passion for showing livestock competitively and was the driving force behind many banners in the livestock barn for her children and grandchildren. She will always be our number one fan.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Merrill; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ryan and Amanda, Joshua and Stephanie; grandchildren, Abbigail, Wyatt, Lane, and Trace; and siblings, Janet (Harrison), Paul, Robert, and Elaine (Doyle).

In addition to her parents, Cynthia was preceded in death by her brother Dale.

Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.

Memorial contributions may be made to Thorntown Christian Church in her memory.
