Mr. Earl Lee Mitchell, 72, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born on June 25, 1953, in Lebanon, a son of the late Tom and Evelyn (Cook) Mitchell.
On March 20, 2021, he married Carrie L. (Brooks) Mitchell in Jamestown; she survives.
Earl graduated from Granville Wells High School in 1972 and worked for 33 years as a fabricator at Praxair in Speedway.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, spending time with his family, and piddle farting around.
In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by his children, Dustin (Christina) Mitchell of Greensboro, and Crystal (Ryan) Starke of Thornton, Colorado; step children, Christian (Ryanna) Brooks and Gracie (Sam) Johnson both of Crawfordsville; three chosen children, Tristan (Lindsey) Mitchell, Sean (Christina) Mitchell, Ryan (Lindsey) Musgrave, four grandchildren, Taylor, Chandler, Evelyn, and Vincent; eight step grandchildren, Nathaniel, Dylan, Tyler, Patrick, Victoria, Willow, Graysin, Hudson; brothers, Tom (Debbie) Mitchell of Jamestown and Ronnie (Sandy) Mitchell of Frankfort; sister-in-law, Barbara Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Mitchell.
Funeral Services are planned for 12:00 noon, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory, 315 West Main Street, in Jamestown, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Earl’s wishes were to be cremated following services and be left to rest at his favorite fishing hole.
