Ella B. Turner-Hedge, 98, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Demaree Crossing of Greenwood in Greenwood, Indiana. She was born on February 22, 1928, in Somerset, Kentucky, one of thirteen children of Charlie and Beulah Mae (Colyer) Hunt.
She was married in Somerset, Kentucky, on May 23, 1945, to Horace Turner after he came back from the war. They moved to Indiana in 1946 and their daughter Judy was born in 1948 and their son, Charles, in 1955. Charles went to be with the Lord in 2009. They shared nearly 49 years together before Horace died on May 14, 1994. She later married Robert L. “Bob” Hedge on October 25, 2005 at Bible Baptist Church in Lebanon. Bob preceded her in death on January 6, 2025.
Ella graduated from Shopville High School in Kentucky and worked in the accounting department at Methodist Hospital. She also spent many years selling Avon products, a role she enjoyed for more than 25 years before retiring in 2004.
Ella loved working outdoors and took great pride in her yard and garden.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy D. Colyer of Lebanon; three granddaughters, Nikki Smith, DeDe (Steve) Connor, and Kari (Chad) Surber Nelson; ten great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, Horace Turner and Bob Hedge, Ella was preceded in death by her son, Charles Robert Turner; six brothers, Everett (Beulah) Hunt, Robert (Ruby) Hunt, Curtis (Alberta) Hunt, Roy (Vannesa) Hunt, Luther Hunt, and Marshall Hunt; and six sisters, Grace Elizabeth Hunt, Bessie Hunt, Edna (Hulon) Cornell, Ruby (Howard) Whitney, Elva (Arlee) Smith, and Margaret Lou (Gerald) Wilson.
Funeral Services are to be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
