On Tuesday October 6, 2026, we lost someone very important to all of us. My mother lost a husband, my brother and I lost our hero, and his grandsons lost a huge part of their world. Our spouses not only lost their father-in-law, but they lost someone that loved both of them as much as his own children. Our father, Jim Shives, was a strong, determined man. He fought for everything he had, and he taught both of us to be tough.
We are going to miss his infectious laugh that filled the air. We are going to miss every opportunity we got to just simply talk. Dad was fun to talk to, and he was one that everyone could depend on to help when needed. We are going to miss our Dad.
No services will be held at this time. Myers & Hunt Mortuary in Thorntown and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation.
