Jerry “Jay” Lynn Crick

Jerry “Jay” Lynn Crick, 61, of Frankfort, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born on July 26, 1965, in Frankfort, Indiana, to James Edward Crick and Anna M. (Wood) Crick.

Jay was a true outdoorsman at heart. If there was an excuse to be outside, he was happy to take it. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, and camping and found great enjoyment simply being surrounded by nature. At home, he could often be found working in his garden or tending to his yard. He was happiest with his hands busy, fresh air around him, and the people he loved never too far away.

As much as Jay loved the outdoors, nothing was more important to him than his family. He made a point to stay connected and was well known for calling everyone in the family just to talk and check in. Those phone calls were simply part of who Jay was…a steady reminder that he was thinking about the people he loved. He deeply valued his time with family and the relationships he shared with those closest to him.

Jay is survived by his mother, Anna M. Crick; daughter, Blake Crick; grandchildren; siblings, James (Debbie) Crick Jr., Jeff Crick, Lisa Crick-Westerfield, Karl (Angie) Crick, and Jessica (Joe) Crick-Garcia; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Crick, and brother, Marc E. Crick.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Day & Genda Funeral Home, 608 N. Main St., Frankfort. Pastor Orellano will officiate.

Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.

Jay will be remembered as a man who loved the outdoors, loved his family even more, and never needed a special reason to pick up the phone and remind them of it.
