Joyce A. (Slavens) Miller

Joyce A. Miller, 88, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.  She was born on February 23, 1938, in Crawfordsville to Thomas and Laila (Wills) Slavens.  She married Roger Miller on January 25, 1959, and he survives.

Joyce was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School, class of 1956.  She received her degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy from Indiana University in 1960.  While at IU, she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and was active in several campus functions.  After she and her husband moved to Indianapolis, Joyce became employed by the Crossroads Rehabilitation facility and established their first speech and hearing therapy program.  She continued being a therapist at Crossroads until the birth of their first son in February of 1963.  After moving to Frankfort in the summer of 1966, Joyce was a very active Den Mother in Cub Scouts, taught Sunday School at the First Christian Church, and worked for local doctors on a referral basis, conducting private speech and hearing therapy.  She was also active in several local civic clubs and was the coordinator for Christmas Gift program for Clinton County families.

Along with her husband of 67 years, Joyce is survived by her sons, Dr. Thomas Miller, MD and Scott Miller; daughter, LeAnne Morris; sisters, Janice Myers and Janie Hultz; ten grandchildren; a step granddaughter; five great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren

She was preceded in passing by her parents and numerous cousins.
