Ruby Neal Dale

Ruby G. Neal Dale entered heaven on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at home with family by her side at the age of 107. Born near Jamestown, Indiana on June 24, 1914, to the late Artie M. and Nora (Coombs) Bailey.

She was a lifelong resident of Boone County and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1932. Ruby married Clarence “Dutch” Neal on August 18, 1934; he preceded her in death on June 2, 1975. She then married Kenneth Dale on July 19, 1980; he passed away January 23, 1993.

Ruby and Dutch farmed in Boone and Hendricks Counties for many years. In 1956 she started selling Dutchmaid clothing. She worked for 29 years with this company, serving as district supervisor for 21 of those years. She also volunteered at Witham Memorial Hospital, North Bay Medical Center in New Port Richey, Florida, and Tri-Area Library.

She was a faithful member of Old Union Christian Church and held associate membership in First Christian Church of New Port Richey, Florida where she spent her winters. She volunteered as Sunday School superintendent and treasurer with Old Union Church.

Ruby enjoyed playing cards and working crossword puzzles. Family was everything to her and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When asked what she thought contributed to her long life, she would say with a smile because she loved the Lord, never smoked, and never drank. Thanks to the care she received from her family and other caregivers she was able to live out her life in her home.

She leaves behind a son, James (Pat) Neal of Lebanon; daughter, Brenda Musselman of Jamestown; seven grandchildren, Brad (Carolyn) Neal, Joyce (David) Hinkle, Scott (Terri) Neal, Teresa (Wayne) Houghton, Jay (Teresa) Musselman, Patrick Musselman, and Andee (Cris) Mabbitt; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Ruby was preceded in death by siblings, Kenneth Bailey, Earl Bailey, and Carolyn Pavey; a granddaughter, Janet Neal; and a great granddaughter, Ashley Houghton.
