Eleven graduates have officially completed the Frankfort Citizens Police Academy program through a nine week course that focused on hands on experience and education about the local department and the field.

Eleven graduates of the Frankfort Citizens Police Academy were recognized for completing the course focused on the operation of the Frankfort Police Department and other local law enforcement partners.
According to Captain Brady Sorrells, the program has a goal of growing and developing the number of responsible, well-informed citizens with an eagerness to learn more about the local police department and its operations.
“After hearing the graduates speak of their experience at the ceremony, it was evidence that we accomplished this goal,” Sorrells said. “Thank you to all involved to help make this class top notch.”
The program was led by class coordinator officer Jake Myers who has attended the National Citizen’s Police Academy Association conference in the past and even held an appointed position on the board of directors for the organization. Deputy Chief Cesar Muñoz shared his appreciation for officer Myers and his dedication to the focus of developing the nucleus of citizens in the community.
“Officer Myers does a fantastic job leading this course and we thank him for his continuing dedication to this program,” Muñoz said.
The program covers a wide variety of law enforcement topics over the nine week program, such as patrol structure and operations, media perception vs. reality, diversity in local law enforcement, use of force, traffic law and OWI enforcement, active shooter education, virtual reality training, K9 unit education, SWAT operations, firearms education, drone UAV operations, Central Dispatch procedures alongside a tour, jail procedures alongside a tour, court procedures and criminal law education, defensive tactics, less lethal and taser education, criminal and crime scene investigations and narcotics investigations.
Alongside the Frankfort Police Department, the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Clinton County Central Dispatch acted as key instructional and educational factors in the program.
