The Whitestown Parks and Recreation Department announced the upcoming Battle of the Badges 5K is set for tomorrow, Saturday, April 12 with opportunities for community members to participate in the 5K while supporting local first responders.
Community members have been invited to register for the fourth annual Battle of the Badges 5K set for tomorrow, Saturday, April 12 where community members can walk and run through Whitestown Legacy Core and the Big 4 Linear Trail with first responders, town officials and other community members beginning at 8 a.m.
The event also features a friendly competition between the Whitestown Fire Department and the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department, and community members may choose which team to support when they register. A portion of the proceeds raised will benefit Witham’s Center for Hope Project.

The Town of Whitestown has announced an upcoming road closure notice for April 12 as the Battle of the Badges 5K gears up to see the police department and fire department vie for community support and the 2025 Battle of the Badges champion title.
The 5K is expected to occur in Whitestown Legacy Core, including both streets and the Big 4 Trail. To ensure a safe event for the participants, a few roads will be closed promptly at 7:50 a.m. until the race is completed.
The road closures include Main Street, Smith Street, Panther Park, South Buck Street, West Pierce Street, 575 East, Big 4 Trail, Hull Street and Porter Avenue.
