Virginia B. Campbell, 104, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Clinton House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Clinton County on August 20, 1921, to Ernest and Elsie (Davis) Mathews. She married Maurice Campbell in 1938. He preceded her in passing on April 21, 1989.
Virginia attended Kirklin High School. She did some work as a hairdresser and at Mallory Timer during WWII. But mostly, she lived the life of a farmer’s wife, helping taking care of her husband, family and homestead. She was a member of Michigantown Christian Church, and enjoyed painting and crafting, playing the piano and organ, gardening and canning. She was known as a sweet lady but wasn’t afraid to tell you how it was when she was passionate about something.
Virginia is survived by her nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her family at Clinton House. The staff and nurses had become her family over the many years of living there, and they had come to love Virginia as their family as well.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, children, Donna, Dick and Bob; sister, Maxine Sanders; and half-sister, Audra.
Graveside service will be held, Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11am at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting with the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
