July 24, 2025 was the ground breaking for Fire Station #4 at the south corner of State Road 28 W and 600 W. That was 123 days ago.
The progress has not gone vertical yet, as of Monday November 24th, but much work is being done at the foundation level. The completion date is hoped to be in August, 2026 but a broader prospective timeline is completion from mid-to-late 2026 to early 2027.
The structure will accommodate an additional 12 firefighters and improve response times and public safety in the annexed area. The facility will also have a “Safe Haven Baby Box.” This is a temperature-controlled, padded receptacle installed in the exterior wall designed to allow a parent to anonymously, safely and legally surrender an unwanted newborn child.
Envoy is building the project and the City of Frankfort is protected from cost overruns with the build-operate-transfer (BOT) arraignment set up by the City of Frankfort.
