Michael S. Spear

Michael E. Spear passed away peacefully Thursday, February 5, 2026, at his home in Thorntown, Indiana He was the son of Max and Ruth (Jeffries) Spear, and the loving husband of wife, Carol.

Mike graduated from Thorntown High School in 1966, where he met his future bride and love of his life, Carol Lollar, who survives. They were married the year following their graduation and enjoyed 59 years and 6 months of a beautiful, happy life together.

Mike was a very loving, caring and giving soul. He retired after 30 years at AT&T Telephone Company and thereafter celebrated retirement doing what he loved best to do – building beautiful and custom furniture in his wood shop. He was a very skilled wood craftsman, and some of his custom works enhanced a local restaurant, graced the Thorntown Public Library, as well as in the homes of family and friends. His “happy place” was in his shop, designing and working on a project.

He is survived by his wife Carol of Thorntown; mother Ruth Spear and sister Linda Leopard of Lebanon; niece Jennifer Nunes (Frank) and nephew Joe Nunes all of Tampa, Florida; son David (Ursala) of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Chris (Chelsey) of Texas, Lisa Spear of Kentucky, and Troy Spear and mother Barbara Osborne of Thorntown; two great grandsons, Oliver and Felix Spear of Texas; a bonus granddaughter Kristen (Makhi) Crawford of Michigan; and many treasured in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Sadly, he was preceded in death by his son Steven Spear; father Max Spear; nephew Tim Beason; and in-laws Alice and Francis Lister, Nancy Kelley, James Cook, Henry Lollar, Tim Lollar; and a dear friend, Bill Bowls.

Family and Friends will gather at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Friday, February 13, 2026. The funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm, with Chaplain Joel Flowers presiding. Interment will follow services at Dover Cemetery in Dover.
