Phyllis I. Smith, 83, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born on July 29, 1942, to the late John A. Clingerman and Evelyn A. (Eames) Wells and stepfather, James Wells.
On November 25, 1995, she married Harold V. Smith in Lebanon, and he preceded her in death.
Phyllis worked in the cafeterias of the Lebanon and Paoli school systems. She enjoyed sewing and gardening, but above all, she treasured the time she spent with her beloved family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to Johnetta Roberts and Paradigm Hospice for the exceptional care provided to Phyllis.
Survivors include her children, Anna C. (Larry) Reed and Kevin Egolf; grandchildren, Lori (Kevin) Rice, Mariah (Todd) Howard, Brandon (Abby) Reed, and Donnie (Madison) Campbell; great grandchildren, Sutton Rice, Gavin Bickel, Troy Howard, Payton, Cash, Kolt, Ariella, and DJ Campbell; and a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, Sue, Larry, and Jeremy Montgomery, Rick, Bandon, Larry, and Marie Ely.
In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd and Ronnie Clingerman and her sister, Ellen Dazey.
Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
Memorials may be directed in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
