Sheriff and Ashley Kelly Face Several Felony Charges for Fraud

Sheriff and Ashley Kelly appeared in court for an initial hearing in Indianapolis today at 9:00 AM to face several charges of Fraud related to disability claims.  Some of the charges were level 5 felonies which may, if proven guilty, result in 1-6 years’ incarceration.

Pre-trial hearing for Ashley Kelly and Rich Kelly is slated for July 8th at 1pm with a jury trial planned for July 14 at 8:30 AM.

During today’s pre-trail hearing, the Kelly’s were instructed to have no contact with firearms whatsoever and no contact with witnesses, including witnesses employed by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.  When the defense said the witnesses would be working from home, the Judge asked if this work was done “willingly” from home.  The prosecution indicated the need to have a hearing to clarify this issue.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty, and burden of proof is on the State of Indiana.

Kaspar Media has learned that the Clinton County Council just issued a resolution asking Kellys to Resign.
