Howard County Sheriff’s Office Executes Search Warrant, Arrests Three on Drug-Related Charges

A narcotics investigation conducted by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a Kokomo residence early Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of 52.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, other suspected controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, syringes, and evidence consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics.

On July 15, 2026, at approximately 1:51 a.m., deputies with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of East Havens Street. After announcing their presence, deputies made contact with the occupants and entered the residence without incident.

Inside the home, deputies located David Boettjer, Courtney Lowery, and Tonia Schmidt. All three individuals were detained while deputies conducted a systematic search of the residence.

During the search, deputies located suspected methamphetamine, suspected controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, hypodermic syringes, digital scales, U.S. currency, packaging materials commonly associated with the distribution of illegal narcotics, and other evidence of drug activity throughout the residence.

Deputies recovered a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine and evidence consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics from the bedroom associated with David Boettjer.

Deputies also located suspected illegal narcotics, syringes, and drug paraphernalia in bedrooms associated with Courtney Lowery and Tonia Schmidt.

A field test conducted at the scene indicated the primary crystal-like substance recovered from Boettjer’s room tested positive for methamphetamine.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested:

David Boettjer, 51, of Kokomo

  • Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 2 Felony)
  • Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 3 Felony)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 Felony)
  • Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)

Boettjer is being held in the Howard County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

Courtney Lowery, 41, of Kokomo

  • Unlawful Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 Felony)
  • Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony)
  • Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Level 6 Felony)
  • Visiting a Common Nuisance (Class B Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)

Lowery is being held in the Howard County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Tonia Schmidt, 43, of Kokomo

  • Unlawful Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 Felony)
  • Visiting a Common Nuisance (Class B Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)

Schmidt is being held in the Howard County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
