Mr. Samuel Leroy Highland, Jr., 60, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at The Waters of Lebanon. He was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on June 12, 1966, a son of Samuel Leroy Highland, Sr. and Katrina J. (Vansickle) Whiteside.
Sam was graduate of Lebanon High School. Through the years, he had worked as a chef at the Crawfordsville Country Club; and prior to that he worked as a machinist.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Crawfordsville. In his free time, Sam enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR. He was a devoted son, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his father, Samuel L. Highland, Sr. of Crawfordsville; mother and stepfather, Katrina and Jerry Whiteside of Lebanon; son, Mitchell (Lauren) Highland of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren, Makinzie, Lux, Mavyn, and Lennox; brother, Christopher (Carrie) Highland of Wetumpka, Alabama; and nephews, Hunter and Alex.
No public services are planned at this time.
Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
Memorials may be directed in Sam’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
