Boone County officials have named Megan Bonty as the interim director of the Boone County Emergency Management Agency, bringing an experienced emergency management professional into a leadership role focused on strengthening the county’s preparedness efforts.
Bonty, a Boone County resident for more than 12 years, has extensive experience in emergency management and operations. Her previous work included coordinating emergency preparedness initiatives across an eight-county region, giving her experience in planning, interagency coordination, and disaster readiness.
As interim director, Bonty will collaborate with local governments, first responders, schools, businesses, and community organizations to enhance emergency planning, improve response capabilities, and build partnerships that support public safety throughout Boone County.
Boone County Commission President Tim Beyer said those partnerships are essential to ensuring the county is prepared for future emergencies.
“Preparedness depends on strong partnerships,” Beyer said. “I am confident she will continue building relationships throughout our community to help keep Boone County ready for whatever challenges may come our way.”
County officials said Bonty’s leadership comes at a time when emergency management agencies continue to emphasize preparedness for a variety of situations, including severe weather, natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other incidents that require coordinated local response.
The Boone County Emergency Management Agency works with public safety agencies and community partners to develop emergency response plans, coordinate training and exercises, and educate residents on disaster preparedness.
Officials welcomed Bonty to her new position, expressing confidence that her experience and commitment to collaboration will help strengthen the county’s emergency preparedness and resilience in the months ahead.
