The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Clinton County and several surrounding counties as strong thunderstorms move through central Indiana.
The warning is in effect until 1:15 p.m. EDT and includes Clinton, Carroll, Tippecanoe, Howard, Boone and Montgomery counties.
At approximately 12:12 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Brookston to Otterbein to near Williamsport. The storms were moving east at 50 mph.
The primary threat is 60 mph wind gusts, which could result in damage to roofs, siding and trees.
Communities included in the warning area include Frankfort, Lafayette, Crawfordsville, Lebanon, Delphi, Flora, West Lafayette, Rossville, Thorntown, Mulberry, Russiaville, Colfax, Camden and surrounding areas.
In addition to the warning, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch through 5 p.m. EDT for 33 counties across central and surrounding portions of Indiana.
The watch includes Clinton, Boone, Carroll, Howard, Montgomery and Tippecanoe counties, along with numerous other counties across central Indiana.
Residents in the affected areas should remain alert for changing weather conditions and be prepared to seek shelter if additional warnings are issued. During a severe thunderstorm, move indoors and stay away from windows.
