Julia Carlyle

Julia Melaine Carlyle, 72, formerly of Frankfort, passed away August 30, 2026 at Bridgewater Healthcare Center in Carmel, Indiana.  She was born September 16, 1953 to Edward Joseph and Doris Elain (Kelly) Horan in Frankfort, Indiana.

Julia graduated from Noblesville High School in 1972.  Immediately upon graduating, Julia began her 38 years of work for the Indianapolis Defense Finance and Accounting Service Company where she served in various administrative positions before retiring in 2010.  Julia was three years and six days old when she contracted polio in Frankfort.  The polio vaccine was in the experimental stages until it was licensed on April 12. 1955.  She lived a full life, despite the partial paralysis from the effects of polio.

Surviving are: her twin sons, Joseph (Katie) Carlyle of Pendleton, and Gary Carlyle of Kempton; her nieces, Laurie (Dave) Jeffery of Delphi and Elizabeth (Michael) Bennet of Zionsville; a nephew, Joe (Katie) Horan of Zionsville; her brother, Michael (Patti) Horan of Fishers; her brother-in-law, Bill Crews of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Jordan, Hayden, and McKayla Carlyle of Indianapolis, Owen Carlyle of Lebanon, and Keegan and Kinsley Carlyle of Pendleton; and great-nieces and nephews, Madison (Al) McKinzie of Moran, Michael Kimball of Scircleville, Jack, Henry, Miles and Charlotte Horan of Zionsville, and Logan and Molly Bennet of Zionsville.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Edward and Doris; an infant daughter, Sandra Kelly Carlyle; and her sister, Vicki Jo Crews.
