Darrin Dewayne Essex, 56, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026 at his home in New Ross, Indiana. He was born on August 21, 1970 in Lebanon and was the son of the late Leo and Kathaleen (Wood) Essex.
On June 21, 1997, he married Misty (Proctor) Essex in New Ross; she survives.
A 1989 graduate of Western Boone High School, Darrin spent many years farming and was the owner and operator E & M produce in Advance.
He was a member of FFA and Advance Christian Church. In his free time, Darrin enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, collecting farm toys, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Misty Essex of New Ross; children, Nicholas (Heather) McKinney of Crawfordsville, Haley McKinney of Crawfordsville, Baley McKinney of Lebanon, Alissa (Tim) Smith of Crawfordsville, and Colton Essex of New Ross; fifteen grandchildren; brothers, Danny (Rhonda) Essex of Lebanon, Jeff (Doris) Essex of Indianapolis, Ed Essex of Danville, and Bruce Essex of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are planned for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory, 315 West Main Street, in Jamestown, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Cremation will follow services.
