The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a High Wind Warning from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday for portions of central, east central, north central and west central Indiana, including Boone County.
Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Winds are expected to be strongest between 7 a.m. 2 p.m.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible, Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Besides Boone, other affected areas include Delaware, Vermillion, Randolph, Putnam, Montgomery, Hamilton, Tipton, Tippecanoe, Warren, Hendricks, Carroll, Henry, Clinton, Hancock, Marion, Howard, Fountain, Parke and Madison.
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you drive.
