Kids, Pilots and Families are welcome to the FREE Flora Airport Open House Saturday September 5 from 9 am to 2 pm.
The Flora Airport open house is one way children and families can follow their interest in flying and aviation.
Flora Municipal Airport has a 2143’ x 93’ turf airstrip and an 800’ X 1200’ ultralight operation area. Aircraft on display and in the air September 5 will include a flying 1941 Vintage Taylorcraft restored by Jim Ellis (Ellis Jewelry) in the 90’s. A beautiful red Ercoupe from the 1940’s will also be on site.
Indy Bipes Biplane Club will show off member-owned biplanes throughout the day on the ground and in the air. A 2003 65 horsepower liquid-cooled “Powrachute Pegasus” Powered Parachute often seen flying around the Flora area will be in the air early Saturday and on display throughout the open house.
Free Balsam airplanes with rubber band engines will be available for the kids. Free Packaged Snacks and drinks will be available. Social Distancing will be observed and wearing of masks are encouraged at this outdoor event.
Skydive Indianapolis Parachute drop is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday over Flora with landing in the ultralight operations area at the Flora Airport. After the skydive drop, team members from Skydive Indianapolis will be available for a short time to answer your questions about sky diving and available jumps based at the Frankfort/Clinton County Airport facility located 24 miles to the south of the Flora Municipal Airport.
Restroom facilities will be available on location at the Open House. Parking is located west of the security fence on the airport grounds.
Rain day will be the following day Sunday September 6, 2020.
Visiting aircraft are welcome throughout the open house. No fuel is available at Flora Municipal Airport (5I2).
