The annual Tox Away Day will be held on Saturday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boone County Highway Department at 1955 Indianapolis Ave., Lebanon next to the 4-H Fairgrounds. This event is sponsored by the Boone County Solid Waste Management District.
Accepted items include antifreeze, brake fluid, motor oil, gasoline, small propane tanks, glues and adhesives, fire extinguishers, fluorescent tube lights/CFL bulbs, oil based paint/thinner/stain, pesticides/herbicides/insecticides, household cleaners, electronics (free with the exception of a $20 cash fee per unit for all televisions and CRT monitors), aerosols, pool chemicals, thermometers and thermostats, batteries (automobile and rechargeable).
Tire limits per primary residence are four vehicle or truck tires, two tractor tires (outside diameter Max. 54″), combination thereof (four tire maximum), no rims.

Items not to bring are latex paint — latex paint is non-toxic and should be allowed to dry out (cat litter helps) until it is non-liquid, then place it in a trash bag in your residential trash. Also, do not bring radioactive waste, explosives (ammunition, fireworks, flares, etc.), alkaline batteries (AA/AAA/C/D are non-hazardous), and appliances.
You must be a Boone County resident to participate. Residential waste only is accepted with no business or industrial waste. Stay in your vehicle at the event for health and safety. The next collection day is Saturday, August 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Municipal Services Building of the Zionsville Street Department, 1075 Parkway Drive, Zionsville.
