Mr. Benjamin Curtis Smith, 75, passed away Sunday evening, September 11, 2022, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born on February 4, 1947, in Lebanon, a son of the late Curtis Austin and Juanita Geraldine (Dickerson) Smith.
Bennie was a graduate of Lebanon High School. Following school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country honorably.
Years ago, he was married to Karen B. Scher (Shockley) until their divorce. He moved to California where he resided for over 30 years. There he worked in the warehouse of Procter & Gamble. He returned to Lebanon about 15 years ago and held memberships with V.F.W. Post 910 and American Legion Post 113.
He loved rooting for the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers and enjoyed entering drawings at various establishments in hopes of a big win. Bennie loved his family and friends above all else.
Survivors include his daughter, Yvonne Cristine (John) Agnew of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Max Griffin Agnew and Charli Rose Agnew; longtime companion, Janet Wright of Lebanon; three brothers, Jack (Jill) Allen of Lebanon, Leon Smith of Lebanon, and Robert E. Smith of Beech Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by his sister, Maridell Summers, and a sister-in-law, Janice Smith.
Funeral Services with Military Rites are planned for 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the times of service.
Boone County Crematory has been entrusted with his cremation arrangements following services.
