Dennis Hoffman will give a presentation entitled “Quaker Records and Traditions” at the Clinton County Genealogical Society’s meeting on Tuesday, March 28 at 5:30 p.m. Many religious denominations kept records about their members, but the records of the Society of Friends, or the Quakers, are unique. Quaker records are widely available and often very detailed.
This presentation will explore how the traditions, practices, and beliefs of the Quakers of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries influenced the kinds of records they created. Understanding the origin and creation of these records will help genealogists better interpret and apply these valuable records.
A life-long Clinton County resident, Dennis has been researching his family history for over forty years. Since he has many Quaker ancestors and his wife comes from a Quaker family, he has become well-versed in researching Quaker records.
This meeting is free and open to the public. It will be held in the lower-level meeting room of the Frankfort Community Public Library.
