For members of the Utility Service Board, Tuesday is going to look a lot like Monday according to General Manager Todd Corrie.
“A tree fell, took down two of our poles with three major circuits on it,” said Corrie. “Our guys worked on it for 10 or 11 straight hours today. Got to come back tomorrow. But the number of people that were effected, I think everybody but the Industrial Park saw some sort of flash or power blink.”
The result was a huge tree down in the middle of Washington Avenue which was closed until shortly after 6 p.m. Monday. Corrie added that area of Washington from Burlington to Young will be closed again on Tuesday to further work on the matter, and possibly Wednesday.
“Probably 50 percent of our customers actually lost power for awhile,” said Corrie. “But, our guys were quick on the draw who got 90 percent of that 50 percent back on. We had some people out for a little over six hours. But, right now, the way it sits there is no customer without power.”
The power outage also hit the Clinton County Courthouse which forced the Clinton County Commissioners meeting, scheduled for Monday morning, to be postponed to 10 a.m. Wednesday or right after the Groundbreaking of the new Annex Building at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The Clinton County Drainage Board will meet at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
No injuries were reported.
