On May 7, the Boone County Child Abuse and Sexual Exploitation Task Force received and reviewed a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, where Boone County investigators identified Bruce Campbell of Greencastle as the user of an X, formerly known as Twitter, account that featured a file that was shared depicting a minor child engaged in sexual activity with an adult, authorities report.

An investigation was launched that reportedly uncovered that Campbell was a known dance choreographer in the area with access to children and once owned a dance studio in Avon. On May 10, Campbell was arrested and charged with child exploitation, Level 4 Felony, in the Putnam County Circuit Court, authorities report.

The task force that launched the investigation was formed to include investigators, forensic examiners and prosecutors from the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Lebanon Police Department, Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department and the Zionsville Police Department. The investigation led the task force to reportedly partner with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Greencastle Police Department to investigate further into the case.

The investigation is ongoing, and the task force released a reminder that all persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at trial or by a guilty plea.
