The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office seized multiple illicit substances from a suspicious vehicle parked at the Pittsburg boat ramp on
Wednesday morning, which led to the arrest of two women.
On Wednesday, May 21 just after 6 a.m., Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported checked on a suspicious vehicle that was parked at the Pittsburg boat ramp where they found two subjects located inside the vehicle. After speaking with the occupants, the deputies asked them to exit the vehicle, authorities state. After the deputies checked the databases for the provided names, it was determined that one of the subjects provided a false name, and law enforcement officers on the scene were reportedly able to uncover the subject’s real identity, which led to the discovery of an active warrant through White County.
Deputies stated that a positive K9 alert was made on the vehicle, prompting a search to begin for illicit substances. Within the vehicle, deputies reportedly located several bags of a brown powdered substance, white powdered substance, a loaded syringe, several other syringes, paraphernalia and controlled substances.
Deputies released that the preliminary identification of the substances was heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine. A large amount of mail that did not belong to either subject alongside credit and debit cards that did not belong to either subject were also reportedly seized from the vehicle. According to authorities, most of the mail appeared to be derived from the Indianapolis area.
The two subjects in the vehicle were identified as Siranda Miller, 37, and Kayla Martinez, 37, and were arrested on the scene before being transported to the Carroll County Jail, authorities report.
Miller received preliminary charges of identity deception, trafficking, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a legend drug, possession of a syringe and theft.
Martinez received preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a legend drug.
The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, and the Sheriff’s Office has contacted the postal inspector and the Indiana Fusion center to further investigate.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder that all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
