Delphi Police Department Announces Increased Patrols In Parks & Trails Following Two Logansport Assaults On Wednesday

The Delphi Police Department announced that officers will be conducting increased patrols at the parks, trailheads and on the trails utilizing the department’s golf cart after reports of two assaults that occurred in Logansport on trails.

The Logansport Police Department announced that an investigation is ongoing into two assault cases that occurred at Houston Park along the trail path, which took place on July 17 with the person of interest being the same in both instances. The department described the suspect as a Hispanic male approximately 5’4″ to 5’6″ with black hair, brown eyes and a medium build, being last seen wearing tan pants and an orange and black jacket with black shoes. The department stated that the incidents are believed to be isolated, and the trails were deemed safe to walk.

The department stated that both victims were females that were walking alone, and the department issued a reminder to anyone utilizing the trail paths to remain aware of their surroundings and walk with someone if possible. In response to the incidents, the Delphi Police Department announced that its officers will be conducting extra patrols at the Delphi parks, trailheads and trails. The department also released information encouraging those utilizing the trails to charge their phone, bring a friend, know where they are if they need to call for help and bring protection, such as pepper spray or another personal protection device.

The department encouraged anyone feeling uneasy walking to their car to call Carroll E911 at 765-564-2413 or 911 if it is an emergency and officers will escort them to their vehicle.
