The IHSAA released the brackets for the 2024 Football State Tournament.
Sectional 42 – 1A
Carroll, Frontier and Pioneer are the three favorites in Sectional 42. Carroll will head to Frontier in round one and could take on Pioneer in round two. Tri-County looks like the favorite to make it out of the bottom half, but watch out for a team like Taylor whose marquee win this season was upsetting Sheridan in week six.
Sectional 46 – 1A
Sheridan is a year removed from a semi-state appearance, but the Blackhawks move sectionals this year, joining Hoosier Heartland opponents Clinton Central and Clinton Prairie. Bud Wright has his team at 4-4 and will play Carroll to close out the regular season and then draws familiar foe Clinton Central who they beat 43-26 in week four. Clinton Prairie could be a team to watch as they continue to get healthy. Cloverdale will benefit from the first-round bye, but Sectional 46 seems wide open.
Sectional 34 – 2A
Western Boone moved from 3A to 2A this year, but their path to a sectional championship didn’t get much easier. North Putnam sits a 7-1 and is 2-0 against sectional opponents this season. Delphi draws a tough matchup against undefeated Lafayette Central Catholic. The Knights took down Logansport and West Lafayette this season and look like the team to beat. The bottom half of the draw is open. North Montgomery won in OT over Southmont earlier this year. Lewis Cass didn’t face any of the Sectional 34 teams this year.
Sectional 20 – 4A
Culver Academy and Lebanon is an excellent first-round matchup. Logansport at 7-1 will be a tough matchup for anyone in this draw. Marion gets the first-round bye and then will see the winner of Frankfort and Huntington North. Logansport and Lebanon have both won five straight and will be the teams to watch.
The IHSAA Football State Tournament will begin Friday, Oct. 25, and will end Nov. 30 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
