The Town of Whitestown has announced that the Town will invest $14 million from its capacity fund to expand its wastewater treatment plant to support expected community growth.
The Town stated that the expansion will see the capacity increase from 1.7 million gallons to 2.3 million gallons per day to support anticipated community growth over the next five to 10 years.
The expansion is slated to be funded entirely through the Town’s capacity fund through a capacity charge for every new connection to the system. The Town stated that the project will not be funded by taxpayer dollars.
The capacity fund allows the leaders of Whitestown to launch project to enhance the town’s infrastructure without imposing additional costs on current residents and utility customers.
The Town stated that the expansion is expected to break ground by the end of 2024, and the expansion is expected to take approximately two years to complete.
