Clinton County’s Opioid Settlement Funding Committee is asking agencies dedicated to the 
prevention and treatment of opioid use disorders to apply for available grant dollars. The money is part of a national settlement with the nation’s three major pharmaceutical distributors.
“Together Clinton County and the City of Frankfort will receive more than one million dollars in annual allocations through 2038,” says Lorra Archibald, committee chair and Executive Director of Healthy Communities of Clinton County. “They’re pooling their dollars to help more effectively address gaps in service to at-risk and underserved populations in the recovery community.”
Anyone interested in applying for a grant must complete an online application. The rolling grant application can be found athttps://tinyurl.com/OPIOID-SETTLEMENT-GRANTS. Applicants must serve Clinton County residents and address at least one of the core strategies listed below:
- Treat Opioid Use Disorder
- Support people in treatment and recovery
- Provide connections to care
- Address the needs of criminal justice-involved persons
- Address the needs of pregnant/parenting women and their families (including babies with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome)
- Prevent over-prescribing and ensure appropriate prescribing & dispensing of opioids
- Prevent misuse of opioids
- Prevent overdose deaths and other harm (harm reduction)
- Provide education and wellness support services for first responders
- Provide leadership, planning, and coordination to abate the opioid epidemic through activities, programs, or strategies
- Provide training to abate the opioid epidemic through activities, programs, or strategies
- Research to support opioid abatement
In addition to Archibald, Clinton County’s Opioid Settlement Funding Committee includes Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets, Deputy Chief Cesar Munoz with the Frankfort Police Department, Clinton County EMS Director Steven Deckard, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department Jail Matron Ashley Kelley, Community Corrections Director Brett Barton, Clinton County Health Department Administrator Rodney Wann, County Commissioner Jordan Brewer, Chief Probation Officer Nancy Ward, Adult Probation Officer Matthew Risk and Macy Simmons from INWell.
